Former Giants star linebacker Lawrence Taylor – one of the greatest defenders of all time - pleaded not guilty in Rockland County (N.Y.) court today to charges that he raped a 16-year-old girl. The New York Daily News has the early details.
It sounds like it was a weird scene in the court room. Taylor was cracking strange, inappropriate jokes, and after a reporter asked him if he was guilty, he snapped, “No. Grow up.”
A taste of the scene:
…The 51-year-old Hall of Famer glanced at the reporters assembled in the courtroom and then turned to (his lawyer, Arthur) Aidala.
"It must be a slow news day," said Taylor, who was seated next to his lawyer and wife, Lynette Taylor.
When a court reporter wheeled a pile of case files into the room, Taylor pointed at the cart and grinned.
"I hope that's not all my case," Taylor said to his wife. "Hell, I wasn't even in town that long."
It doesn’t sound like this will end well for anybody involved.
