Ian Rapoport tweets that the Boston Herald is reporting that a contract extension for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is “imminent”. The terms are said to be three years, $58 million.

Pro Football Talk says that Brady and Patriots owner Robert Kraft spent time together over the weekend in Cape Cod. (Big weekend for AFC East owners visiting financially-dissatisfied superstars).

Brady is set to make $6.5 million in 2010. If he signs the offer on the table, he’ll be a Patriot through age 36.

UPDATE (11:22 a.m.) Adam Schefter of ESPN tweets, "Aware of Brady-contract talk. But two knowledgeable people say reports of deal being in place are 'inaccurate" and "wrong'. We'll see."

Meanwhile, can we all agree as sports fans that this kind of reporting is garbage?
So-and-so tweets something after "sources" tell him, and then what's-his-name tweets something else, citing different "sources." I'll come out right now and say I bet three-quarters of these sources don't even exist, they're just a reporter making stuff up and hiding behind the fact that they don't have to reveal to whom they talk. After all, if you throw enough crap at the wall, eventually some of it will stick, right?
Come on, grow up. In the race to be first, people have forgotten that could be, might be and is close to being are not newsworthy states for anything. I have no problem waiting for something to actually happen before I see it reported, and when it does actually happen, I don't care at all where I saw it first.
This makes commenting on the actual meat of the story, Brady's contract, pointless because no one has any idea if or when he'll be getting one -- just the same as before all these dumb tweets.

Report: New contract for Brady is 'imminent'

Any objective football fan will tell you that Brady deserves more than he is currently getting.  With number one receivers such as David Patton, Troy Brown, and David Givens...it is clear that the Patriots' offense's success can be directly attributed to the decision-making of Tom Brady.
Also, the Giants certainly did deserve to beat the Patriots, but if you were an objective fan and not contributing Homerism, then you would know that the Giants' D-line was the reason for the SB win for the Giants.
