Report: Brandon Jacobs to request a trade

Vinny DiTrani of the Bergen Record says a source is telling him that Brandon Jacobs will meet with Giants management Monday and request a trade. B. Jacobs

The bulldozing 265-pound running back lost his starting job to Ahmad Bradshaw during training camp. The temperamental Jacobs has frequently butted heads with members of the New York media, and, reading between the lines, he seems to have an iffy relationship with the coaching staff.

Jacobs has not been an effective runner this season or all of last season. The Giants gave Jacobs a new contract worth $13 million in guarantees prior to last season.

If Jacobs does get dealt – and, given New York’s lack of running back depth, it’s highly unlikely he will – his last hurrah in Big Blue will have been the bizarre helmet in the stands incident (which, by the way, is a story likely to stick around this week).

Stay tuned.

Report: Brandon Jacobs to request a trade

I'm not enough of an expert to say he's washed up or still has it, but two years ago Brandon Jacobs ran all over the Ravens -straight up and down. Given a good offensive line, he might return to that form.  But it seems to me that in the situation he's in now, you can't get anywhere unless you can quickly bounce outside and that's why Bradshaw is looking so much better.

Report: Brandon Jacobs to request a trade

Dear Coach: I don't want to play for you! Trade me to a winner.
Dear Player: Go home if you don't want to play, sore loser. We're not paying you, either
We'll draft another kid next year.
Maybe, if you're lucky, you'll be part of the package deal for that player,; so we getter  better draft pick.
We dealt with Plaxico Burress' judgement error., last year.
Compared to that, we'll survive.

Report: Brandon Jacobs to request a trade

Anyone thinking Jacobs punches their tickets to Dallas (Green Bay fans, I am looking in your direction), has clearly not watched him play for a long time. The Jacobs that used to run over people is gone. This Jacobs thinks he's Barry Sanders. He runs east and west instead of straight ahead. Oh, and he just threw his helmet into the stands and is pouting for a trade. Sounds like a real character guy.

Report: Brandon Jacobs to request a trade

If Jacobs has any real friends, they need to give him a Snickers bar - might cure his chronic diva-ism so he can start competing for the job he lost.  He needs to get quicker and/or tougher, or he's going to end up second fiddle wherever he plays.

Orinvee, what does your post have to do with anything here? Did you reply to the wrong thread or something? As for Jacobs, he seems to be a shell of his former self. A few years ago he was a powerful back that picked up tons of yards when needed. Maybe a change in teams would help him out but as many others have stated the Giants won't trade him without getting another back in return. Not to mention his contract makes him pretty untradable atm.
