Barring some kind of reversal on appeal or a reduced sentence, it looks like former Giants RB Dave Meggett will spend the next 30 years behind bars after he was convicted of burglary and criminal sexual conduct.

For the back story and analysis of the trial, follow this link to Profootballtalk.com. The encounter between he and a college student in North Charleston, S.C., sounds pretty ugly, though.

The biggest mistake in the trial, Mike Florio writes, is that the defense didn’t have Meggett take the stand to defend himself from the charges.

Meggett played 10 years in the NFL – six with the Giants – and made two Pro Bowls.
