Steelers considering cutting kicker Reed?

Jeff Reed made a whole lot of noise before the season about how he needed a new contract and how he was so much better than other kickers with bigger deals (naming Sebastian Janikowski specifically) and then, later, how bad some of his teammates were on special teams.

That noise appears to have been foolish, as Reed's been just terrible this year, hitting just 68.2 percent of his field goal attempts. He's 0-fer from 40-49 yards, just 2 for 4 from 50-plus, and missed a 24-yarder, for those wondering exactly where the seven whiffs came from.

Oh yes, and he might get cut -- Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Steelers are bringing in kickers for workouts on Tuesday. So, theoretically, if anyone impresses them enough, Reed's getting a pink slip.

Reed's missed 24-yarder, you may recall, came on Sunday night against the Patriots and afterwards, let loose on fans, turf and the media (naturally), claiming that "percentages are overrated" and "if you're not perfect in [Pittsburgh] you're gonna hear about it." All while wearing a shirt that, according to SteelersDepot.com, read "Haters Hate."

Reed did acknowledge that his "numbers are down" this year, and that's pretty obvious thanks to "math" and "division."

Now Reed just better hope he's not a victim of "subtraction" too.

 - there's always one of your type around. Look, fans do not suit up but they lay more claim to the franchise than players do. We're here before they get here. We're here after they leave. Our money contributes to the team, as does our support. Go into Chicago, Pittsburgh, Seattle, or any other city and listen to the crowd on a third and short. Watch the players encourage their fans to get on their feet. Watch the team respond when the fans answer the call. Then tell me the fans are not part of the team in our own way. You just sound like a bitter little jackass that needs to complain about others in a vein attempt to make your own sad life seem less empty. Douchebag.

Thanks for the Guy Fieri reference. When I saw the picture of Reed I was thinking exactly the same thing, but couldn't get the name for the life of me.

Are any of you guys are on an NFL roster?  So stop using 'we' when speaking about your favorite team.  You have nothing to do with a team winning or losing, Turds.

No one player is above the entire team.  If Steeler's win with the 2nd and 3rd quaterback, they can win with a second kicker.  Get rid of him!
