Saints DE Will Smith was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with domestic abuse battery, according to the Lafayette Advertiser.

According to Lafayette police, officers were called just after 2 a.m. after Smith allegedly grabbed his wife’s hair and pulling her down the street. She suffered minor to no injuries, and he’s been released on a $1,000 bond.

The Smith family was featured during the middle of the Saints-Cowboys game, giving a Happy Thanksgiving message to the fans.

The Saints have released a statement, saying, "We are aware. We have spoken with Will. Our security staff is looking into the matter. No other comment."

UPDATE (9:28 p.m.): On what is presumably her Twitter account (and she got a retweet from the verified account of Will Smith, so I'm assuming it really is her), Racquel Smith, Will Smith's wife, professes her love for her husband and declared everything a big misunderstanding.

Two tweets from her today:

"Ugh! SUch a huge misunderstanding! My husband and I are fine and this was all bs. Please allow the legal system to take its course"

"I feel bad for my husband who is innocent in all of this and all my family. Pray for my family and don't pass judgement."
