Newton inks large deal with Under Armour

It’s a deal of which even Cam Newton's father can be proud.

According to cnbc.com, the former Auburn QB – who figures to be one of the first players taken in the 2011 NFL Draft – might have signed one of the richest rookie endorsement deals ever with Under Armour.

Terms were not disclosed, but a Darren Rovell source said the deal could be worth more than Reggie Bush’s $1 million per year deal with adidas from 2006.

Apparently, Under Armour, writes Rovell,  “will unveil a whole collection of Cam Newton Auburn items, including jerseys with his name on the back, as well as football and training gear, including a signature shoe line.”

It’s another big get for Under Armour which out-bid Nike (which, by the way, has a much larger budget when it comes to these kinds of deals). Rovell makes another interesting point. Nike actually has Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Jets QB Mark Sanchez in its family, but neither has been used in Nike’s advertising.

I assume Under Armour won’t keep Newton off the airwaves.

Under Armour has all sorts of Newton goodies. Sadly, they'll cost you $180,000. But you do get a discount if you order them from someone else's laptop, and Cecil the Pimperend (half pimp - half reverend!) can help you arrange financing.
