UPDATE 5:25 EST: According to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, Colts owner Jim Irsay says Manning will be out 6-8 weeks. Fortunately, these are just workouts that Manning is missing.

----------

For the second time in 15 months, Peyton Manning finds himself recovering from minor neck surgery. The Colts quarterback told the Indy Star that he had a minimally invasive procedure done on Monday. (Insert predictable “Manning pain in the neck” joke here.)

Manning underwent surgery in March 2010 to address a disc in his neck that was pinching a nerve. He insists that this latest procedure dealt with a separate issue, and he anticipates a quick recovery. Last time, he was working out within two weeks of the operation.

Like the last procedure, this one was performed by Dr. Richard Fessler at Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Manning remained in the hospital Monday night and returned home to Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Peyton Manning recovering from minor neck surgery

Based on a lot of the comments I have read, it appears we have a lot of Manning haters here. The fact of the matter is that he is one of the best and brightest to EVER play the game and no one can take that away. I am a Manning fan and a Colts fan, and I will admit that I believe he has about five years left because he rarely takes hits, never misses games, and the Colts are working on improving his line protection. Hopefully soon they will begin to groom a successor for him because one is not on the roster currently. As for all the hate, there isn't a one of you out there that wouldn't want Peyton Manning on your team. You are just mad because he beats them all the time. Manning has a few years left then he will be gone. Just enjoy watching a great player while you can, because when Manning, Brady and Breese retire, then you are stuck watching Anderson, Hill, Cutler, Fitzpatrick, Webb, Henne and Smith, and personally I prefer to watch greatness on the field even if it is not my team.

Good thing they drafted 2 more offensive linemen.  Peyton Manning will own all the records in the book soon!

In other news Manning is still a stat-padding-choker-in-the playoffs-should-retire-overrated QB
